Jon Stuart Swenson ’69

Jon Stuart Swenson ’69 passed away in his sleep at home on January 6, 2015. He was born to Olaf and Grace Swenson in
Minneapolis on March 20, 1947. Hockey was his sport, and he continued
to play at Dartmouth. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1969. He moved to Portland, Oregon, and was affiliated with KGW, where he had a radio show and made lifelong friends. He then formed a marketing company and made more friends. He married Ann Wilkerson in 1972, and their daughter, Dana, was the light of their lives. Ann and Jon divorced in 1984 and he moved to Seattle. Jon reconnected with cousins Paul and Tom Swenson and joined their family shoe business. In 1993 friends introduced him to Joan Clark. They married on February 5, 2005. Their years together included countless friends and travel in the United States, Spain and France for adventure and to visit friends and family. Dana and husband Jorge and their children blessed his life. He and Joan welcomed them from Barcelona to Seattle in the summer of 2014. Jon enjoyed many happy birthday parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s with family and friends. Jon is survived by Joan, Dana and Jorge, grandchildren Tomas, Carlos and Isabel, brother Rick and a close-knit circle of cousins, nieces and nephews.
