John W. Uhlmann ’66

John W. Uhlmann ’66, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died August 21, 2009. He was chairman of the board of the Uhlmann Co., a family-owned grocery-products firm previously known as Standard Milling, the maker of Wheatena, Maypo and Patio Chef Charcoal. John came to Dartmouth from Pembroke Country Day. He was past president of Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Art Institute and served on the boards of the United Israel Appeal and United Jewish Communities. John was on the national boards of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, Toward Tradition and Voices United for Israel. Active in Republican politics, he once ran for Congress in the 3rd District in Kansas. Uhlmann is survived by his wife, Patricia, and daughters and sons-in-law Katherine and Dennis and Meg and Justin as well as five grandchildren.
