John W. McCauley III ’45

John W. McCauley III ’45 of Wilmington, Delaware, died of natural causes on November 7, 2012, at the Kendal at Longwood Retirement Community. He was with his entire immediate family when he passed. John was born in 1924 in Rochester NY. He graduated from Dartmouth after being a bombardier in a B17 in WW II, and then worked until retirement for DuPont. He married Barbara in 1958, and was a loving, devoted and supportive father and husband for the rest of his life. John was an avid golfer, and could always be found playing golf with his friends and wife at the Wilmington Country Club. He also enjoyed working on the house, trying to improve processes, often with many comments from Barbara. After retirement he was a regular driver for the Red Cross. John and Barbara often traveled around the country and world, always with or to see friends and family. His good and humorous nature drew people to him. He taught strong family values that will endure, and the memory of his hearty and frequent laugh will always keep everyone smiling. John is survived by his children John IV, Mitch and Julie, their spouses and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by Barbara in 2010.
