John Richard Bohn ’57

John Richard Bohn ’57 passed away in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 22. He grew up in Medford, Massachusetts, graduated from Medford High School and entered Dartmouth in the fall of 1953. At Dartmouth he was a sociology major, belonged to Phi Gamma Delta and played both basketball and lacrosse for four years. In lacrosse “Skip” was an All-American. Following Dartmouth Skip served two years as an officer in the U.S. Army, where he commanded a Nike Ajax Missile battery site. After the service Skip had sales posts with Union Camp and Look magazine, before starting a distinguished 21-year career in the bottled water industry. He retired as president of Great Glacier Minneapolis in 1992. Active in civic affairs, Skip served on the board of the Rotary Club in Minneapolis for many years. He was very active in grant-making activities to organizations supported by the Minneapolis Rotary Foundation. Finally, Skip was an avid sports fan and was very involved in supporting and coaching youth teams in baseball and hockey. He was always present at his kids’ athletic games and later at his grandkids’ games. Neighborhood kids learned to skate at the Bohn’s backyard rink and his son Jack eventually played at Dartmouth for four years. Skip stayed in touch with his many Dartmouth friends and never missed a reunion. Skip’s wife, Judy, passed away in 1999. He is survived by children Jack ’87, Tu’91, and Sally Krueger and three grandchildren.
