John H. “Jack” McNary ‘52

John H. “Jack” McNary ‘52 of West Bath, Maine, passed way from cancer on September 14, 2009. Born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, he was a graduate of Swampscott (Massachusetts) High School. At Dartmouth he majored in history, was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and Sphinx and lettered in football. He is survived by his wife, Betty, children John Jr. and Lee, two stepchildren, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jack’s first wife, Winifred, predeceased him in 1985. After serving as an officer in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, Jack embarked on a very successful career in the ready-mix concrete business in Connecticut and also was active in several industry association organizations. Jack loved the outdoors and sports. After retiring to Maine he became very involved with Bowdoin College sports teams, especially football and hockey. He also served on local community boards and committees.
