John Francis “Jack” Creamer Jr. ’52

John Francis “Jack” Creamer Jr. ’52 passed away on March 25, 2015, in Scottsdale, Arizona, following a series of strokes. Jack was born in New York City on August 12, 1930, graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1948 and from Dartmouth in 1952. At Dartmouth Jack majored in English and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and a varsity letterman on the swimming team. Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation, rising to the rank of first lieutenant before his honorable discharge in 1955. He began his business career in sales with Wheels Inc., an automotive parts and marine distributor, rising to become president in 1963. American Parts System (a subsidiary of Gulf & Western) bought the company in 1967 and Jacked remained until 1969. He then joined Martin Fromm & Associates, a Kansas City, Missouri-based association management firm, where he rose to the position of president. In 1979 Jack moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, and founded Distribution Marketing Services, a firm specializing in marketing consulting to the automotive aftermarket. During the next 20 years he assisted in more than 60 mergers in the auto aftermarket world. Jack was an industry leader and held many association positions. He also received numerous industry awards in recognition of his valuable contributions. His wife of nearly 63 years, Diane, children Susan, Colleen, John and Michael, 11 grandchildren and brother Tom ’55 survive him.
