John E. Clemence ’48

John E. Clemence ’48, a longtime resident of Short Hills, New Jersey, died on March 3. After a stint in the U.S. Marine Corp Jack received his bachelor’s from Dartmouth while at Tuck School. He was a member of Casque & Gauntlet and Tabard/Sigma Chi. He married Ruth Mets in 1946 and is survived by her and their five children: Kathleen, Kris, Karen, John Jr. and Karyl. He left 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Jack had a long and successful sales career and retired at the age of 80. He received the Short Hills Township 2009 Patriot Award for, most notably, 15 years of passionate service to the American Red Cross blood drive program.
