John Dickinson Milburn III ’43

John Dickinson Milburn ’43 III died August 2, 2009, in San Francisco. Jack, a native of East Hampton, Connecticut, attended Dartmouth and graduated from Colorado College before receiving his medical degree at Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia. After serving in the Navy Jack completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Stanford and then opened a solo practice in Palo Alto, California. He practiced there for 30 years. He was also a member of the clinical faculty at Stanford Medical School, where he trained many residents in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He was ahead of his time in his approach to the prevention of osteoporosis and heart disease in women. His home in Woodside, California, featured a silver dollar saloon, where he entertained his friends. Jack retired in 1987 and moved to San Francisco shortly thereafter. He was previously married to Myra Moss. His parents, brother and sister predeceased him. Cousin Peter Palin ’61 survives him.
