James Thomas Danaher Jr. ’51

James Thomas Danaher Jr. ’51 died on August 21, 2007, the victim of a massive heart attack in a Broadway theater just before the musical Rent was to begin. Jim was born in West Haven, Connecticut, graduated from its high school, pledged Kappa Sigma, lettered in crew and was a member of Green Key, Undergraduate Council, Palaeopitus and Casque & Gauntlet. His major was architecture. After a three-year hitch with the CIA, during which he married Pat McGinty and fathered twin sons, he entered Stanford Law School. His practice specialized in family law with several partners in Palo Alto, California. Three more sons were born, followed by his divorce and subsequent marriage to Kathleen Rogers in 1978. His career was studded with pro bono work, particularly in the area of human rights. Jim is survived by Kathleen, sons Steven, Michael, James ’77, Peter, Thomas, stepson Blaine Rogers and four grandchildren.
