James M. Pool ’66

James M. Pool ’66 died June 8, 2009, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in South Carolina, close to his home on Pawley’s Island, north of Charleston. Jim was a graduate of Longmeadow (Massachusetts) High School along with ’66s Tim Paige, Bill Ferris and Tom Clarke. At the College Jim was a three-year starter at forward and member of the 1964 Ivy championship soccer team. He was class treasurer our freshman and sophomore years, served on the Undergraduate Council and was a member of Green Key and Theta Delta Chi. His brothers remember him for his poker-playing skills, daytrips to Colby and ready, winning grin. A 1969 graduate of Boston University Law School, he lived for 22 years in Clarksburg, West Virginia, where he practiced as a defense attorney, retiring in 2004. In 2005 he moved to Pawley’s Island, where he was the president of Pawley’s Island Beautification Program and taught at Coastal Carolina University. Jim is survived by daughter Courtney, son-in-law Jeremy, stepson Jordan and his fiancée, Rachel, and grandchildren Mark and Stevie.
