James Garland Healy Meredith ’52

James Garland Healy Meredith ’52, Tu’53, passed away in Tijuana, Mexico, on August 10, 2014, of lung cancer. Jim came to Dartmouth from his home in Annapolis, Maryland. He attended Severn School in Severna Park, Maryland. At Dartmouth Jim majored in the Tuck 3-2 program, was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and served as manager of the freshman ski team. He served three years in the U.S. Navy and then worked for Bethlehem (Pennsylvania) Steel Co. for about six years. He then formed his own real estate company in Annapolis.After a few years Jim and his wife, Ann, embarked on a journey of helping others through religious training at Faith Training Center in Walhalla, South Carolina, and assignments in the United States and several countries in Asia and South America. They also worked with Youth With a Mission in this country and elsewhere. Their final home was in Morocco. Along the way Jim and Ann adopted children James and William. Ann, their two sons and their families survive Jim.
