J. Kenneth Meyer ’54

J. Kenneth Meyer ’54 of Sunapee, New Hampshire, passed away on September 9, 2014, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Ken came to Dartmouth from Yonkers, New York, where he attended Roosevelt High School. At Dartmouth he majored in geology and was a brother of Phi Kappa Psi. He belonged to the Dartmouth Outing Club, Cabin & Trail Mountaineering Club and the Dartmouth Geological Society. After graduation Ken spent a year in Aspen, Colorado, skiing and bartending at the Hotel Jerome. He then worked for two years as a geologist for the U.S. Geological Survey, locating uranium deposits in Utah. Thereafter he worked for Frank Briscoe Co. in the areas of estimating and contract administration. In 1960 Ken joined Henegan Construction Co. as a construction superintendent and in 1969 was appointed vice president. From 1970 to 1984 he served as vice president of the Titan Group Inc. He worked as a project executive for Sorodoni Construction Co. As an executive project manager he worked on projects including L.A.’s Terminal Island Sewerage Treatment Plant, West Point’s Eisenhower Hall and many hotels and hospitals. In 1988 he started his own construction consulting and conflict resolution business. Ken retired to Sunapee in 1999. He is predeceased by his wife, Patty Jean, and is survived by children Richard, Steve, Donald and Barbara.
