Irving Willard Tuttle ’48

Irving Willard Tuttle ’48 died in Hanover on August 4, 2009. He joined our class as a transfer from NYU in 1945, majored in economics and was a brother of Phi Kappa Psi. “Tut” was instrumental in hauling snow into the stadium for the 1948 Winter Carnival outdoor evening show. Tut married “BeeGee” in 1941 and they were together for more than 60 years before her death. They lived in the infamous Wigwam Circle while on campus, sharing more with their neighbors than they really wanted through its thin walls. His employment history was as a purchasing agent in the paper industry. He was an avid sailor and was twice national champion in the Bullseye Class sloop. After his retirement they moved to Hanover’s Kendal retirement community. Following BeeGee’s death he married Rebecca Nussdorfer, who survives him with his children Peter and Leslie.
