Ian J. Macdonald ’44

Ian J. Macdonald ’44, M.D., died January 4 in Vero Beach, Florida. Born in Flushing, New York, he was a part-time resident of Vero Beach for 40 years while working in nearby Orlando, and moved to Vero Beach full time two years ago. A family physician for 50 years, he retired 10 years ago. Ian attended Dartmouth before joining the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot. After WW II he returned to Dartmouth to receive his bachelor’s and then received his doctorate from Tufts Medical School. He was a member of the Orlando Snow Skiing Club, retired physicians club, the Military Officers Club of America and the local Dartmouth club. His survivors include his wife, Deena, and sons Craig and Jack.
