Howard William Bissell ’51

Howard William Bissell ’51 died on July 25, 2009, from the effects of dementia at the Loreciel Haven in Lafayette, California. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, he graduated from its East High School. At Dartmouth he majored in English and was president of Psi Upsilon, Interfraternity Council and Palaeopitus; a member of Casque & Gauntlet; and lettered in golf. He married Merrilyn (Marno) and they had two sons. His career was in sales, starting with insurance, then building materials (with Kaiser), then fasteners, retiring in 1990. He lived in southern California before moving to Orinda, California, and then Bellingham, Washington. His interests included golf, travel and fishing with his four brothers, all of whom survive him. Other survivors include sons Howard Jr. and Craig and four grandsons.
