Harry Clinton Sayre Jr. ’43

Harry Clinton Sayre Jr. ’43, M.D., died November 26, 2010, at his home in Warwick, New York. Harry graduated from Warwick High School, where he played both varsity baseball and varsity football. At Dartmouth he majored in chemistry-zoology and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. “Doc” went on to earn his medical degree at the New York Medical College in 1945. He married Virginia Lawrence in 1944, the year before he graduated, and they had three children. After a stint in the U.S. Navy, Doc began his medical practice in Warwick, where he spent his entire career as a beloved general and family practitioner. He was a trustee of the Warwick Savings Bank, a trustee of St. Anthony’s Hospital in Warwick, a member of the Warwick Reform Church and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Doc is survived by Virginia, children Harry, James ’71 and Virginia and their families, including several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
