Frederick Edward “Ted” Bradley ’57
Frederick Edward “Ted” Bradley ’57 passed away on February 25 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He had been suffering from diabetes for many years. Ted grew up in Glencoe, Illinois, and graduated from New Trier High School along with his wife-to-be, Enid, and Dartmouth classmate Hanny Mason. At Dartmouth Ted majored in economics; was a member of Delta Tau Delta, Casque & Gauntlet and Green Key; and was active in crew (lightweight captain), the rowing club, Geological Society, Glee Club and Le Cercle Francais. In 1955 his lightweight crew competed in the Henley (England) Regatta. The crew and spouses returned to Henley for a 50th anniversary regatta reunion in 2005. Ted entered the steel business in 1957, and his 30-year career took his family to Houston, Dallas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chicago, Philadelphia and Detroit. In 1998 Ted and Enid retired to Albuquerque. He became a docent at the Albuquerque Museum and traveled frequently to Europe. He was an avid skier, golfer and tennis player. In later years complications from diabetes prevented him from pursuing active sports. His new passions became classical music, opera, reading and cruise travel. Ted is survived by Enid, his wife of 54 years, children Brooke, Jordy and Thad and seven grandchildren. Hanny Mason wrote: “At New Trier, as at Dartmouth, Ted was well liked and at ease with all his classmates.” Fellow oarsman and classmate Ted Jennings added: “Ted was a dear friend.”
