Felix Lilienthal ’41

Felix Lilienthal ’41 died on March 5, 2012. A lifelong resident of New York City, he attended Columbia Grammar School before admission to Dartmouth, where he captained the speed skating team. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 8, 1941, as a seaman and rose to the rank of lieutenant, serving in the North African theater. In 1946 he joined his father’s firm, buying and merchandising for department stores throughout the United States and overseas. He assumed the presidency of the firm in 1955 and held that position until it closed in 1989. He enjoyed membership in the Harmonie Club, City Athletic Club and the Fairview Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rae; her children Lynny, Gene and Jo-Ann; her seven grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren.
