Edmund F. Hunt ’51

Edmund F. Hunt ’51 died on July 21, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic. His life was summed up by admiring friends as one of devotion to family, giving back to the communities in which he lived, and remarkable success and contribution in his business career. Ned loved Dartmouth. As an undergraduate he was a member of Beta Theta Pi, Dragon, Green Key and the Interdormitory Council. He went on to earn a master’s from the Tuck School of Business. His career included senior roles in personnel management at Pitney Bowes Inc. and Resisto-flex, leading to the presidency of Zallea Brothers in Delaware, where he spent 14 years. When that company was acquired he moved to Plantation, Florida, where he started and built a successful printing company. Ned sold the business in 2005 and moved to Buffalo, New York, to be near his children and grandchildren. He was a people person, and his family recalls Ned’s successful conversion of a group of inner-city teenagers who were vandalizing Zallea’s plant into an elite security team. Wherever he lived Ned was a community leader and contributor. Among organizations to which he devoted his energies were chambers of commerce, Kiwanis International and the Boy Scouts. He was a fixture as Santa Claus at company and community holiday celebrations. Ned’s life was his family, including his wife of 61 years, Patricia; three children, including son Edmund Jr. ’77; and eight grandchildren.
