Daniel Kiang ’67

Daniel Kiang ’67, a retired U.S. Foreign Service officer, died on July 22, 2011, at Potomac, Maryland, after a long battle with lung cancer. Born in China, he graduated from the College and Columbia University. He served in the Army Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland, from 1969 to 1972 and joined the U.S. Foreign Service as a political officer in 1979. Daniel spent most of his career in the East Asia and Pacific Bureau of the State Department, either in Washington, D.C., or abroad. His overseas assignments included London, Beijing, Shenyang (China), Taipei, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. He retired in September 2004, though worked periodically for the State Department. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Kiang.
