Frank Mellon Burnap ’60 passed away due to health complications following surgery on June 14 in Thendara, New York, surrounded by close friends and family.
Paul Maxwell Suerken ’60 of Erie, Pennsylvania, died March 1 following a prolonged illness after suffering a spinal injury in a fall at his home in 2008, from which he had been recovering in an assisted living facility thereafter.
John Widman Appleford ’60 died October 6, 2009, at his home in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite. He is survived by brother Robert and children Patricia, Susan, Barbara, Laurie, John and Mark.
Gregor Ernest Johnson ’60 died on December 7, 2009, in Falls Church, Virginia, after declining health following a quadruple bypass. He came to campus from Harlowton (Montana) High School.
Martin Avery Lower ’60 of Naples, Florida, and Wilbraham, Massachusetts, passed away on December 16, 2009. He came to Dartmouth from Syracuse, New York, was active as a member of Alpha Theta and completed his M.B.A.
Thomas J. Machura ’60 died in Galesburg, Illinois, on June 12, 2009. Following a long and successful career as an insurance underwriter, he and his wife, Nancy, retired to Galesburg, southwest of Chicago.
Donald Christie McLellan ’60 died in San Mateo, California, on July 22, 2009. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice; siblings Francis Xavier, Ann, Duff and Elizabeth; children Elizabeth Ann and Matthew; stepdaughter M.
Patrick Melville Morris ’60 died on March 25 of Alzheimer’s disease. Patrick, son of Thomas and Lennie Morris, was born on February 28, 1938, in Hamilton, Montana, moving to Great Falls, Montana, where he spent most of his young life.
Andrew Horton Nighswander ’60 of Marblehead, Massachusetts, died August 10, 2009, at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, Massachusetts, after a long illness. Andy was born in Laconia, New Hampshire, to the late Arthur and Esther Nighswander.
