Philip K. Livingston ’58—adventurer, Marine, and lifelong aviator “forever lured by the excitement of the unknown”—died March 20 in Alaska. Phil grew up in Pittsburgh and played lacrosse all four years at Dartmouth.
John R. Sherwood III ’58, an urban planner and competitive sailor, died of complications of a stroke on April 12 at his residence in Annapolis, Maryland.
Harvey R. Grable ’58, M.D., died on November 2, 2022. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York; majored in biology; and was active in the Dartmouth Christian Union. In 1964 Harvey graduated from medical school at the University of Arkansas.
Joel R. Shyavitz ’58 passed away November 6, 2022. Joel was born and grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, and came to Dartmouth from Philips Andover Academy.
Douglas R. Wilder ’58 passed away in North Carolina on January 20. Doug grew up in upstate New York and at Dartmouth was an art major (pre-architecture) and a Theta Delta Chi brother.
Raydon C. Hitchcock ’58 died on February 24, 2022. Ray grew up in Syracuse, New York, and was a member of Tri-Kap. After Dartmouth he lived in Syracuse and later in Indiana.
Richard H. Jackson ’58 died on September 27, 2022. Nick was born in Detroit and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. At Dartmouth he was a history major and a member of Sigma Nu.
John B. McCloskey ’58, Tu’59, Th’59,passed away July 18, 2022. John came to Dartmouth from Newark, New Jersey, was a brother at Delta Upsilon, and earned an M.B.A. and M.S. in the Tuck-Thayer five-year program.
David A. Shepard Jr. ’58 passed away in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on July 14, 2021. Dave entered Dartmouth from Purchase, New York, and Deerfield Academy and stood out as a good friend among the freshmen in Gile Hall.
