Louis Joseph Mulkern ’49 died on July 12, 2012. Lou spent most of his career internationally with Bank of America before starting his own bank in San Francisco in 1983.
James Giacomo Lecce ’49 died on May 17 at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jim came to Dartmouth from Williamsport (Pennsylvania) High School. Originally he was in the Navy V-12 program.
Walker Forrester Williams ’49 died on June 10, 2010, near his hometown of Maupin, Oregon. “Frosty” came to Hanover from Granite High School in Birmingham, Michigan.
Paul Toli Daukas ’49 died on February 13 in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, where he lived. Paul came to Dartmouth from Nashua, New Hampshire, where he captained the state championship football team.
William Herbert Thayer ’49 died on January 5 in Minneapolis near Edina, Minnesota, where he lived. Bill came to Dartmouth from Williston Academy in Massachusetts and spent his career as a financial advisor.
Lester Mahan Felton Jr. ’49, M.D., died on December 11, 2011, at his home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Les, who grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, came to Dartmouth from Wilbraham Academy.
John Arnold Hartwig ’49, M.D., died on November 14, 2011, in Minneapolis, where he lived. Jack grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and came to Dartmouth from St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin.
John Michael McGean ’49 died on September 24, 2011. Mike came to Dartmouth from Shaker Heights (Ohio) High School. He and his late wife, Lois, won one international and two national ice dancing championships in the 1950s.
Samuel Wells Smith ’49 died on August 14, 2011. Sam came to Dartmouth from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, New Jersey. Sam was a chubber at Dartmouth, and had a long association with the Dartmouth Outing Club.
Richard Frank Waddey ’49 died on September 26, 2011, in Nashville, Tennessee, where he lived. Dick came to Dartmouth from Bethesda (Maryland) High School and majored in physics.
