Class Note 2001

Issue

November-December 2026

Class Note 2001. Hello, fellow ’01s! This is our final Class Note of 2026—and what a year it has been. The theme of this column is gratitude, and I’m especially grateful to have seen so many of you at our 25th reunion in Hanover in June. I’m also deeply thankful for the extraordinary generosity of our class, which broke several Dartmouth College Fund (DCF) records. Together, we committed an amazing $3.2 million, including more than $1 million in cash going directly to financial aid this academic year. We also received a remarkable group of DCF honors: the Class of 1948 Award (highest reunion multiple), Class of 1953 Award (greatest number of donors in a reunion class), Class of 2003 Award (greatest number of donors whose previous gift was five or more years ago and first-time donors), and Centennial Circle Award (most new Centennial Circle members in a year). Thank you to everyone who helped make these achievements possible.
Our June reunion also sparked several wonderful mini-reunions throughout the summer, and I’m grateful for every chance our classmates had to reconnect. I was delighted to run into Bonnie Jeanne (Regan) Gerhart in London in June while visiting with my family. Megan (Hitchner) Ketchum wrote that she hosted Meg (Smoot) Stonehouse and her family in Sonoma, California, in July. And in August, Alyssa Rower and her family stopped in Seattle for a quick hike with mine. These unexpected connections were such a gift.
I’m also grateful to share that Kimberley (Tait) Lowe has written another book, released September 10. She writes, “Bright Stars is a literary portrait of our class graduating on the eve of 9/11 and the world changing forever. We deserved our own novel! DAM featured Bright Stars as an ‘Editor’s Pick’ in the September issue and I’m doing a book event with Still North Books in Hanover on October 1 with leading F. Scott Fitzgerald scholar Anne Margaret Daniel, who has endorsed the book! The Boston Globe will be running my op-ed about our class of 2001, tied to the themes of the novel, as part of its 9/11 anniversary coverage.”
Happy holidays and happy new year to you all! Thank you for the stories, generosity, friendship, and Dartmouth spirit you shared throughout 2026. In 2027, I’d be grateful if you would keep the news coming—new jobs, moves, books, creative projects, family milestones, community work, Dartmouth gatherings, and everyday adventures are all welcome. It’s a privilege to help share the many ways our class continues to grow, connect, and contribute.
