Class Note 1987. Congratulations to Laura Carlson, who was recently appointed president of the University of Delaware. Laura previously served as the university’s interim president and as provost. Prior to that, she spent many years at the University of Notre Dame as a professor of psychology and held various roles there including vice president, associate provost, and dean of the graduate school. Laura has earned several teaching awards, including the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce C.S.C. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
Ken Block is currently running for governor of Rhode Island as an independent candidate. Ken previously ran for governor in 2010 and 2014. In November of 2020 Ken was hired by the presidential campaign of Donald Trump to find evidence of election fraud. Ken later wrote a book about the experience and his findings, Disproven, which was published in 2024.
I am very sad to report the passing of Sam Semon, who died on March 17 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sam was the head of business affairs, international originals, at Amazon MGM Studios and previously held executive roles at NBCUniversal and Gaumont Television. While at Dartmouth Sam was a beloved member of Theta Delta Chi and the Motor Lodge community.
