Class Note 2007
Issue
September-October 2024
Hello from Kathryn (Funderburk) Kumf! I’ve had such a great spring reconnecting with my senior year roomies that I offered to guest write this edition’s Class Notes for Sam. Here are some exciting updates.
Lauren Betzing resides in Austin, Texas, with her husband, Jon, and their two boys, Parker (9) and Owen (6). They are both active entrepreneurs, launching their latest venture at the intersection of technology, consciousness, and human potential. They enjoy spending lots of time outdoors exploring and hiking in the North Carolina mountains, especially when it’s time to escape the Texas heat!
Lauren Edgar and her husband, Victor, recently wed in San Diego, and the wedding was a Dartmouth lovefest. Among her many mind-blowing professional pursuits, Lauren is a lead investigator on NASA’s Artemis III geology team, and she spent this winter hunting meteorites in Antarctica. She continues to train astronauts and operate Mars rovers. Hit her up if you’re planning to visit San Diego (or the moon). Despite her out-of-this-world success, she still accepts my kids’ FaceTimes with “pressing” questions about space. We heart you, Dr. Lauren.
Dylan Gee and Dave Anderson ’04 live in Fairfield, Connecticut, with their children, Parker (8) and Olivia (5). Dylan runs a crazy impressive neuroscience lab (Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Development Lab) as a tenured professor at Yale and has a mountain of professional accolades but somehow finds time to dedicate to social causes. She’s written influential articles about the mental health of children and parents separated at the border. She also helped secure victory in a landmark N.H. case that helped victims of childhood physical and sexual abuse. She’s saving the world one kid at a time.
Killarney Loufek and Michael Sinnott live near Sun Valley, Idaho. They have two adorable children, Evie (3) and Rhodes (2). When she’s not crushing life on the slopes, Killarney is either working as project manager at The Picket Fence interior design firm or throwing good vibes around like confetti to all who are lucky enough to live in her orbit.
Kelly (McLaughlin) Nolan is back home in Minneapolis with her husband, Matt, and their two daughters (6 and 2). Kelly’s an attorney-turned-time management strategist who works with professional women. She’s been featured in Forbes, Bloomberg, and Parents.com, and she shares bite-sized strategies via Instagram and her podcast.
Jessie Richard and her husband, Joel, live in Bethesda, Maryland, with Layla (9), Val (7), and Ben (5) and many fur-babies. If you’ve been wondering why Jessie keeps showing up in pics with cool musicians, it’s not her Sheba background. Jessie’s the senior vice president for federal public policy at the Recording Industry Association of America. She advises on a broad range of policy issues with the potential to affect the music industry, focusing primarily on intellectual property and technology policy.
We most recently reunited in N.Y.C. to celebrate C. Tasha Sterling’swedding to her French beau, Alex. Dozens of Dartmouth alums descended on The Big Apple and much fun was had by all. Tasha works in global marketing procurement at Coca-Cola, but my favorite attribute of hers is her adventurous spirit. Follow her around the world @ASterlingView.
Although those are tough acts to follow, I’m happy to report I’m on a career pause after 15 years in finance. My husband, Brian, and I live in Rye, New York, where I’ve reconnected with many Dartmouth alums. (Find me if you’re ever nearby!) We have children Cooper (6), Brady (4), and Charlie Grace (2), who keep me on the move, but I’m also a devoted hype-woman for my brilliant friends who continue to crush it personally and professionally.
