Great updates in store and a nod to our Instagram page—just keep reading!
Sean Garren DeKrey and Will DeKrey ’08 welcomed a new family member, Rowan Tyler DeKrey. Rowan was a real community effort, as Sean’s best friend from high school, Emily Tyler, carried him for the nine months of pregnancy. The three DeKreys are basking in joy at their home in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. They’ve already had Dartmouth visitors, including ’08s Chris Knape and Jon Hopper, and they expect many more! When not taking care of his own son, Sean is harnessing the sun to deliver progress on climate and energy justice at Vote Solar, a nonprofit that advocates for smart and just energy policy and regulation in states across the country. Sean works as its chief program officer. Congrats, Sean and Will!
Andrew Eastman wrote in from St. Louis, Missouri, that he and his wife, Emily, welcomed their firstborn, Charlotte Leigh Eastman, on July 25! Sebastian Restrepo is Charlotte’s godfather. Congratulations, Andrew and Emily!
Luke Antal shared during the summer, “Lots of fun Dartmouth connections recently in the Antal household. Our boys are ages 8, 5, and 3, and I think I’m ready for no more diapers! I recently took my two older boys up to the Second College Grant for a weekend of outdoor adventuring and fishing. We met up with Adam Platz ’08 and saw three moose and a black bear. This fall we headed to the Ravine Lodge for a big D family reunion that Whitney (Flynn) MacFadyen and Andrew Flynn hosted. My fam and I live around Manchester, New Hampshire, where my company, Alumni Ventures, is headquartered. I cofounded the company in 2014 and we have become one of the most active venture capital firms in the world and the largest serving individual investors.”
Katherine (Akiko) Day wrote in, “It’s been a keystone year for me with an immense amount of self-discovery and growth. In order to survive and thrive following an episode with depression and anxiety, I found many useful tools including internal family systems therapy, acupuncture, Alexander technique, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and yoga nidra meditation. The journey is never-ending, but a year later I have never felt more authentically myself! Along the way I have continued to create the podcast I co-host with my childhood best friend, Malasa Jois Kahn. Our podcast, Midnight (R)evolution, highlights the stories of our friends who are moving through the world with vulnerability, passion, courage, and purpose—including episodes featuring fellow ’07s and dear friends Mirelle Phillips and Lorraine Buhannic.” Check out our Instagram page this month for a longer feature highlighting Katherine’s podcast work!
Emily (Tracy) Glass and husband Tanner Glass shared a great update, full of ’07 reunions. “Our family just returned from an incredible trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast alongside our close friends Dan and Laura Shribman and their four children. Witnessing our two boys forge lifelong friendships with our best friends’ children was such a joy! Now, back in Woodinville, Washington, we are busy running our respective businesses and chauffeuring our boys to all of their sports. Tanner currently works in the front office for the New York Rangers as a player development coach and recently launched Star Academy, Seattle’s first education-based hockey program. I also started my own business, True Potential College Admissions Consulting, helping students and families navigate the college admissions process. We love staying connected to our Dartmouth family, and I am looking forward to our annual Yellow House reunion with Alex Bowie, Alex Fucigna, Elizabeth Culvahouse, Jen Crombie, Jess Kelly, and Whitney Douthett.”
