Class Note 2000

Issue

January-February 2025

Hello, ’00s.

I am sad to share the news that two of our classmates—Allison (Thomas) Rose and Jennifer (Preston) Robles— have passed away.

Family, friends, and colleagues gathered in Atlanta on September 30 to honor Allison’s life after her battle with gastric cancer. Allison is survived by her husband, our classmate Ian Rose, and their sons William, 16, and Henry, 14. Allison was a neonatologist at Emory University, where her work on behalf of patients will be recognized on an ongoing basis through the Allison Thomas Rose Advocacy Award. Her friend Allison (Joseph) Forrer writes, “Though the many merits of Allison simply cannot be expressed within the constraints of a Class Notes column, her unwavering gracious and caring presence brought joy to all who knew her.”

Jennifer had lived in Los Angeles for the last 17 years, most recently in Culver City. She is survived by her husband, Ted, son Evan, 10, and daughter Madelyn, 13. Jennifer was a psychologist at the UCLA student counseling center, where she worked with students up until two years before her death from metastatic breast cancer. After Dartmouth Jennifer earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Ohio State University. In college, she was a member of the Women in Science Project and the equestrian team. Her friend Montie Meyer sent this remembrance on behalf of herself and husband Tom Harris as well as Kristin (Miller) Stebbins: “We remember Jen as a kind, accepting, easygoing, and empathic friend who loved animals, movies, and hosting TV nights at her apartment above Dirt Cowboy.”

On behalf of our class, our condolences to both families. We will donate memorial books to Baker Library in Allison’s and Jennifer’s names.
