Class Note 2000
Issue
July-August 2024
Zeroes, planning for our 25th reunion has already begun. Would you like to join the event committee? Do you know great vendors in the Upper Valley? Have ideas for kid-friendly activities? A wish list for sights to see on campus tours? Please reach out to our class president, Joe Scott, at jcsearmy@gmail.com, or to me at the email address below. There is much to do, and we would love your input and engagement. And don’t forget to save the dates: June 19-22, 2025—we hope to see you there.
We received a recent update from Ilya Magazanin: “I’ve got two lovely, smart kids and a partner, (Maria) Luisa Tucker, who’s killing it in the podcasting industry (check out Death of an Artist). Professionally, I’m a video/film editor. I’ve been freelancing for 14 years now and hoping that AI won’t displace me for another 14. Chuck Divak is on fire as a film editor as well. He’s done a few high-profile documentary projects and was Emmy-nominated. Both of us are in New York City for now.”
I love getting notes from excited future Dartmouth grandparents. Jessica (Stanco) Rubano’s dad, Tom, let me know that congrats are due to Jess on the birth of her son, Michael, in October 2023. Michael is two years behind big brother Joseph, future class of 2041. Very happy for Jess and her husband, Paul.
Since our last column we have received news of the passing of one of our classmates, Jeremy Neill. Jeremy lived in Nolensville, Tennessee, near Nashville. He returned to his home state of Tennessee after a few years in Boston post-graduation. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kendy, and son Chandler, with whom he was fishing when he suffered a sudden cardiac event. He and Ben Patch were classmates from seventh grade through college graduation, and Ben says he was always “a brilliant mind, a sharp wit, and a deeply thoughtful friend.” We have heard from many classmates who loved him and are deeply affected by this loss.
Did you know that each of our deceased classmates is honored with a book dedicated to their memory in Baker Library? With support from your class dues, a book with a memorial bookplate featuring their name is donated. Recent additions included books in honor of Sarah Kenney and Rob Allgyer. While class dues have been paused on and off in recent decades, we greatly appreciate your participation in years when we do collect funds. Thank you for your support.
