The Buddy Way documentary about Buddy Teevens ’79 aired on ESPN to great acclaim from ’64s, given that in 2017 the class awarded him the Class of 1964 Outstanding Leadership Award.

From Fritz Corrigan: “Great story of a great coach, leader, and person.” Tom Parkinson wrote, “Buddy was different from other coaches. All coaches say they care about their players and mean it to differing degrees, but Buddy acted on it.”

Wilson Madden recalled a dinner with Buddy and others to which he was late because of recruiting. But when he “roared in” he apologized and immediately started to chat with Wilson’s 6-year-old daughter and took her for a memorable tour of Floren. “All of us fortunate to have known Buddy knew he was one of a kind and top of the humanity pile in terms of genuine caring for so many people of all walks of life,” says Madden.

Bob Bartles recalls, “I kept remembering little things about Buddy. One time I needed to talk to him and found him working out on a treadmill at the equipment room at Floren. We talked for several minutes while he never stopped pushing himself and listening with that big smile.” He was a great man, innovator, and a game changer. In closing, we also thank David Plavin for a very illuminating presentation on Zoom to our class in February about his outstanding career in aviation and running N.Y. and N.J. airports for more than seven years.
