Charles W. Thorne ’48

Charles W. Thorne ’48 died on May 25 at the Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. “Bud” graduated from Trenton (New Jersey) High School in 1944 and Dartmouth in 1948, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi and Sphinx. He was a partner and professional planner with the architectural firm of Faridy, Thorne & Fraytak, living in the Trenton area before retiring to Vero Beach in 1994, where he entertained visiting class members on the golf course. He was a former member and president of the Trenton Country Club and a board member of the Moorings Club in Vero Beach. He was also past president of the Ewing Township board of education and a board member and trustee of the Friends of New Jersey State Museum. Bud is survived by his wife, Jayne, whom he married in 1951; children Wendy, Helen, Charles III and Timothy; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter Julia. Bud was a loyal, participative class supporter and a member of the class executive committee at his death.
