Charles M. Richardson Jr. ’51
Charles M. Richardson Jr. ’51, a long-time San Francisco lawyer, died on June 12 at his home in San Anselmo, California. He is survived by his long-time partner, Jane Lesh. At Dartmouth Charlie was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and was active in the Outing Club, Canoe Club, Dartmouth Players and International Relations Club. He went on to receive his M.B.A. from the Tuck School. Following a tour of duty as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, Charlie earned a J.D. from Stanford University Law School. He practiced law for more than 50 years, first with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, a prominent San Francisco law firm, and later in his own practice, specializing in family law. Charlie contributed to his community as a director of Big Brothers and of Marin Aid to Retarded Citizens. He was a member of the Bohemian Club. Charlie’s greatest joy and his favorite place on earth was his rustic retreat on the Eel River in California, where he enjoyed the outdoors and the company of his many friends. In celebrating his life those who knew him best recall especially his great gift for friendship, engaging humor, uniquely boisterous and infectious laugh and competitive gamesmanship.
