Charles Bradford Langley ’67
Charles Bradford Langley ’67, Ph.D., of Ellicott City, Maryland, died on June 17, 2017. He came to college from Silver Spring, Maryland, majored in history, and was active in Dartmouth Religious Liberals and the Asian Society. Later Brad served as an Alumni Fund volunteer, regional agent, and career network volunteer. After several years living in Hong Kong and Taiwan, Brad returned to the United States and earned his Ph.D. and taught Chinese language, East Asian literature, and history before joining the U.S. Department of Defense, from which he retired after 35 years. He was an avid traveler and student of history. He was the family genealogist and a prolific photographer, wise counsel, and caring friend to a large group of extended family, friends, and colleagues. His dormmate Richard Chu ’67 remembers him fondly as “quiet, gentle, considerate, a true American gentleman.” He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughter Alexandra; son Jonathan and his wife, Megan; and son Ethan.
