Carrie Ann Garfink Dixon ’79

Carrie Ann Garfink Dixon ’79 died on October 19, 2016, after an extended battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 13, 1957, and attended Thomas S. Wootton High School in Potomac, Maryland. At Dartmouth Carrie majored in cultural anthropology. After graduation Carrie lived briefly in Boston before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area. She married Gregor Dixon and resided in Sebastopol, California, in Sonoma County. Carrie initially worked in the wine industry and subsequently pursued a career in employee benefits, developing interactive websites. Carrie’s family wrote, “Carrie will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, open-heartedness and wonderful sense of humor. She had a keen mind, was an avid reader and had an enduring love and knowledge of rock and roll. Carrie was a terrific aunt. Her nieces and nephews remember her for the unconditional love she bestowed on them. Carrie adored her dog Zoe, who brought her incredible joy and companionship.” Blythe Marston ’79 remembers Carrie as “a wonderful, inspirational woman with a calm, kind and open heart. We were so fortunate to share her spontaneity and joy. Her laugh still brings a smile to my face, as does thinking of her quietly playing the guitar. Simply by being who she was Carrie inspired those around her to find the ties that bind us as friends and family.” We join Carrie’s family in cherishing a lifetime of memories and will forever hold her in our hearts.
