Carl Cushing Krogh ’41

Carl Cushing Krogh ’41, Tu’42, died on November 30, 2012. After college Carl joined the Navy, from which he was discharged in 1946 as a lieutenant. In 1943 Carl married Smith College graduate Mary Basten, forming a 66-year union that produced four daughters and lasted until her demise in 2009. His business career was mostly in the manufacture and distribution of specialty metals. After moving to Deerfield, Massachusetts, in 1977, Carl served as chairman of the Deerfield planning board. He enjoyed singing with various local choirs and was a lifelong pianist for his own enjoyment. Carl served as class of ’41 treasurer from 2005 to 2008. He is survived by his beloved companion, Mafalda Handler, four daughters and seven grandchildren.
