Burton Elliott ’48

Burton Elliott ’48 of Newton, Massachusetts, passed away on December 12, 2013, after a relatively brief struggle with cancer. The son of the late Edward and Sade Goldstein, “Bud” was born in Boston and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts. At Dartmouth he was a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club, Winter Carnival Council, Jack-O-Lantern, Dartmouth Film Society and Pi Lambda Phi. After graduating he began his business career at Jewelsmiths International in Boston before moving to New York City in 1961. He returned to Newton in the 1980s and also spent much of his time at his second home in the Berkshires, Massachusetts. Bud was a successful businessman, avid photographer, champion of the environment and stalwart supporter of Dartmouth and the class of ’48. Through the years he was class gift planning chair, head agent, vice president, president and a perpetual member of the executive committee. He was a grand friend to all of us classmates. Bud is survived by his life partner, Michele; son Richard ’76 and his wife, Carrie; son John ’86; daughter Lisa; Michele’s children Mara and Andrew; and grandchildren.
