Arthur David Bastien ’47
Arthur David Bastien ’47 of Marlborough, Massachusetts, died while visiting Cape Cod on March 22, 2014. He was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on January 9, 1925, grew up there and attended Williamstown High School. He was assigned to Dartmouth in the Marine V-12 unit. He served in the Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was recalled from 1951 to 1952 for the Korean War. He was discharged as a first lieutenant. He attended Northeastern University before returning to graduate from Dartmouth with a major in business management. He was a graduate of the Waltham Watchmaking School and the Gemological Society of America. He was a contract administrator for Raytheon Corp. in Waltham, Massachusetts, for more than 35 years in the missile systems division, retiring in 1990. He owned and operated a family jewelry store in Williamstown for several decades. He was an avid golfer and Boston sports fan. He enjoyed Cape Cod and had a summer home there. He was a founding member of the Williamstown Theater and was a member of the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce. He loved to travel and journeyed to Europe with his wife on several occasions. He is survived by his wife and five daughters.
