Anthony Joseph Migliaccio ’54
Anthony Joseph Migliaccio ’54 passed away on March 13 in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Tony came to Dartmouth from Providence, Rhode Island, where he attended Classical High School. At Dartmouth he was a brother of Kappa Sigma and majored in chemistry-zoology. Tony then attended New York Medical College, graduating in 1959 with distinction. He completed his internship and surgical residency at Rhode Island Hospital and in 1968 was elected a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Tony was affiliated with several hospitals, including Rhode Island Hospital, Miriam Hospital, Roger Williams Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and several outpatient clinics. He was a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Brown University School of Medicine and a partner with Northeastern Health Care, helping pioneer a cost-effective alternative to emergency room services. Tony was an accomplished coastal and off-shore sailor, having competed in several Annapolis-to-Newport and Newport-to-Bermuda races. He founded the Rhode Island International Sailing Association and was a member of the Narragansett Bay Yachting Association, Twenty Hundred Club, Off Sounding Club, Barrington Yacht Club and Rhode Island Country Club. An environmentalist, he was a president of Save the Bay. Tony is survived by his wife, Paula, and children, Robert, Susan, Leslie and Stephen.
