Allan W. McKee ’48

Allan W. McKee ’48 of Millersville, Pennsylvania, died on March 20, 2012, in the Calvary Fellowship Homes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Allan W. and Hazel Smith McKee. Allan came to Dartmouth in the Navy V-12 program, served in the Navy in the Far East and remained in the Naval Reserves for many years, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He received his bachelor’s in chemistry from Dartmouth in 1948 and remained as a teaching fellow, doing graduate work in chemistry and obtaining his master’s in 1950. He joined Armstrong Cork Co. in 1950 as a chemist in the research and development department, advanced through various divisions and retired as manager of a research unit in the floor division. He was the author and co-author of five U.S. and one Canadian patent. Allan participated in politics in Millersville as a member of the Republican Committee, 10 years on the borough planning committee and one term as a borough councilman. He is survived by his wife, Vivien, and children Brenda, Bonnie, Stephen, Dana and Karin.
