Albert Chandler Johnston ’47

Albert Chandler Johnston ’47 died on July 7, 2014, in Kahuku, Hawaii. He was born in Boston on December 19, 1925, grew up in Keene, New Hampshire, and attended Mount Hermon School. He joined the class as a civilian in the summer of 1943, left college, served in the Navy and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in music theory in 1949. He was in textile sales from 1951 to 1956 and in 1962 moved to Oahu, where he became a buyer for Ala Moana Liberty House’s linen department in Honolulu. He was an accomplished musician and composer of popular songs who also enjoyed intellectual games and crossword puzzles. He is survived by his ex-wife and three sons.
