Sherwood Norman Salitsky ’53

Sherwood Norman Salitsky ’53 died November 16, 2009. Sherwood excelled early on as a violinist and was selected for the Pennsylvania All State Orchestra and later played professionally with the Lehigh Valley Symphony. At Dartmouth he was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi and majored in chemistry-zoology, taking his M.D. from Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia. His residency was at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, after which he maintained a private practice in pediatrics in Broomall, Pennsylvania, until an intercerebral hemorrhage forced him to retire at age 56. Sherwood married Madge Minsky 57 years ago. They have two daughters and son David ’84. From his wheelchair Sherwood in retirement loved to listen to classical music, visit friends, take courses at Florida Atlantic University and especially enjoy his children and grandchildren. He was a great friend of many of us. The class of ’53 is poorer for his passing.
