Robert V. Berry ’54


Robert V. Berry ’54 passed away on February 8 in Palm City, Florida. Bob came to Dartmouth from Montclair, New Jersey, where he attended College High School. At Dartmouth he majored in economics and was a brother of Chi Phi. After graduating he served in the Army in Germany as a paratrooper. After discharge Bob joined Thomas & Betts Corp., a designer and manufacturer of electrical components based in New Jersey. During his 40 years with the company Bob presided over the growth of the Canadian and European branches of the company and set up operations in Asia and Australia. He retired in 1995 as a senior vice president. An ardent golfer, he held memberships at many of the world’s most renowned courses. He served the class of 1954 as class agent, reunion giving committee co-chair, executive committee member and class president; he served the College as a member of the Alumni Council. Bob is survived by his wife, Fay, children Patricia ’81 and Michael and brother-in-law Bob Boyd ’54. He is predeceased by brother David ’53.
