Robert T. Byall ’51
Robert T. Byall ’51 died in Rocky River, Ohio, on May 24 from complications related to his 10-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease. His wife, Mitzi, predeceased him. He is survived by four children and six grandchildren. Bob came to Dartmouth from Lakewood, Ohio. While in Hanover he was active in skating, piano playing and as a member of Phi Delta Theta. He was a psychology major. Many of these interests continued throughout his life. Bob never missed his grandchildren’s hockey games and for many years put on the skates himself. He retained a remarkable ability to improvise at the piano; music of all kinds, but especially jazz, was a lifelong joy. Bob served in the U.S. Army following graduation, then returned to the Cleveland area, where he spent 25 years as an officer of Broadview Savings and Loan. Following the collapse of that industry in the 1980s he took great pleasure in driving a cab and filling numerous roles at his neighborhood golf course
