Randell K. Nord ’57


Randell K. Nord ’57 passed away on November 24, 2012, in Atlanta. Randy was born in Jamestown, New York, and attended high school at the Hill School in Pennsylvania. At Dartmouth he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and the Corinthian Yacht Club. He graduated with a degree in geography. After three years as an officer in the U.S. Navy he enrolled in the Wharton School of Finance, earning an M.B.A. with honors in 1962. Randy had a distinguished 34-year career with management consulting firm Kurt Salmon Associates, starting as a staff consultant and successively rising to principal, vice president, global director of human resources and board member. He developed a national reputation for designing and implementing information technology systems in the retail and manufacturing industries. He retired in 1996. Randy enjoyed running, cycling, walks on the beach and was an avid competitive sailor. He sailed in regattas at both local and national levels. At the 1996 Olympics he served as a U.S. Olympic Committee volunteer for the sailing venue. Through the years he and his family enjoyed many sailing vacations in the Virgin Islands. Randy is survived by his wife, Betty; his children Elizabeth and Christopher; Betty’s children Robyn, David, Elizabeth, Craig, Virginia, Paul, Thomas, Robert and Scott; and 13 grandchildren.
