Paul Joseph Caravatt Jr. ’45

Paul Joseph Caravatt Jr.’45 died April 3, 2009, after a brief illness. While at Dartmouth Paul was active in WDCR radio and the Jack-O-Lantern. He was a member of Zeta Psi and Green Key. Paul graduated from Tuck School in 1947. He served his class as newsletter editor, treasurer, reunion committee chair and Webmaster. The first 25 years of Paul’s career were in advertising, with Young and Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather and McCaffrey/McCall. He became president of the Carl Ally agency, then chairman of Marshalk, serving on the board of the global Interpublic group. In 1971 an entrepreneurial urge led Paul to leave Interpublic and start Caravatt Communications in the emerging video publishing field. In 1980 The New York Times featured Paul in an article headlined, “Ad Man Turned Audio-Visual Mogul.” Paul is survived by Laura, his wife of 62 years, daughters Cynthia and Suzanne and their husbands and six grandchildren.
