Lee Enderline Bartholomew ’47

Lee Enderline Bartholomew ’47, M.D., of Norwich, Vermont, died on October 16, 2010. He graduated from Summit High School in New Jersey and joined the class in the Naval V-12 unit. He played in the band and the symphony orchestra and was active in the German Club and DOC. He graduated from medical school in 1948 and from Columbia Physicians and Surgeons in 1950. His residency in rheumatology was at the Mayo Clinic at the University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1954. He was appointed an associate and then assistant professor at the University of Michigan Medical School from 1960 to 1972. He served as the head of the division of rheumatology at Albany (New York) Medical College from 1972 to 1990. From 1990 to 1996 he was a consultant to the Elizabethtown, New York, Community Hospital. He was a member of the board of directors from 1993 to 1996 and president in 1993-94. He retired in 1996 and moved to Norwich. He enjoyed gardening, sailing and camping in the Adirondacks. He is survived by two children.
