John Gilbert Baker ’44

John Gilbert Baker ’44, M.D., of New York City and Tupper Lake, New York, died July 12, 2009, at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, New York. He graduated from A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon and then Dartmouth and received his M.D. from New York University Medical School in 1949. At Dartmouth he was a member of Army V12 and a regional agent. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and the Korean War. John did his internship and residency in gynecology/obstetrics at New York’s French Hospital. He held many positions at various hospitals, becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. He was predeceased by his brother Roger ’38 and wife Patricia, in 2006. He is survived by children Maura ’77, Johanna and Andrew, nephew Roger ’67, brother James and two granddaughters.
