Jay Stanton Larmon ’47
Jay Stanton Larmon ’47 of Charlton, Massachusetts, died on April 23. He joined the class from Scarsdale (New York) High School and enlisted in the Army in the 10th Mountain Division. He served in Italy, where he received a Bronze Star. In college he was active in the Undergraduate Council, Palaeopitus, the Mountaineering Club, Psi Upsilon and Casque & Gauntlet. He worked in Montpelier, Vermont, with National Life Insurance and then in Buffalo, New York, with Batten, Barton, Durstein and Osborn as an advertising writer. In 1961 he moved to Olean, New York, where he served as a freelance consultant in public relations. In 1978 he founded Olean Creative Service. He retired to Osterville, Massachusetts, in 1984 and served as a director of the Preservation of Cape Cod from 1985 to 1987 and as a director of the Barnstable Land Trust from 1988 to 1991. In 2006 he moved to Overlook Community in Charlton, where he served on the president’s council. In addition to skiing, he enjoyed photography and winemaking. His father and two uncles were Dartmouth alumni. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, a daughter and a son, Steven ’74.
