Irving Dennison Booth Jr. ’45


Irving Dennison Booth Jr. ’45 died July 26, 2012, at the St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility in Elmira, New York, after suffering a stroke in August 2011. He was born July 28, 1921, in Elmira and came to Dartmouth from Choate School. He served in the 25th Marines, 4th Division, and was awarded the Purple Heart for action on Iwo Jima. He worked for 37 years as a salesman for I.D. Booth Inc. in Elmira before retiring to his 100-acre farm in northern Pennsylvania. He enjoyed skiing, hunting and golfing and was an active member of the Elmira Country Club, the Elmira City Club and Fur Fin and Feather Club. He was an excellent swimmer, skier, windsurfer and hiker. Denny married Diane Dewhurst Booth and together they enjoyed travel and the gardens on their farm. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years. Surviving are two sons, one daughter and five grandchildren.
