Edward Joseph John Tyranski Jr. ’64
Edward Joseph John Tyranski Jr. ’64, Th’65, died on March 30, 2012, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Ed came to Dartmouth from Hillside (New Jersey) High School, where he was a three-sport athlete. He was on the Dartmouth baseball team, a member of Alpha Chi Alpha and the Newman Club and after graduation was a class agent from 1986 to 1993. Following his start at General Electric, Ed had a distinguished executive career with American Optical, Timex, Remington, Allied Signal, Thermos and First Alert. These positions allowed him to see the world and share many experiences with family. Ed had a strong work ethic and was a role model for his family and friends. Ed touched the lives of many people as a loving husband, friend, classmate, neighbor and father. He was a hero, through good times and bad, giving sage advice on career and life, even while his own had its ups and downs. After his first wife, Ann, died in 1995, Ed married Beth McCrudden. His love of family was demonstrated many times over to son Chad ’89 and wife Barbara, son Gaet and wife Tanja and grandchildren Declan, Jared, Jocelyn, Kasha and Lara. True to his dogged spirit, he underwent significant surgery to remove his esophagus and part of a lung, allowing him to spend another Christmas with Gaet and his family. A month before he passed Ed was able to see another grandson’s basketball game in Virginia and spend time with Chad and his family. For more information, go here.
